What We Treat

Substance Use We Treat in Outpatient Care

Our IOP and PHP programs treat the full range of drug and alcohol use, including co-occurring mental health conditions, all in one integrated plan.

Alcohol Use

Structured outpatient treatment for alcohol dependence, including evening tracks for working adults.

Opioid Use

Medication-assisted treatment plus therapy for opioid use, coordinated in one program.

Benzodiazepines

Careful, clinically supervised outpatient treatment for benzo dependence and its underlying anxiety.

Stimulants & Cocaine

Behavioral therapy and relapse-prevention skills for cocaine and stimulant use disorders.

Co-Occurring (Dual Diagnosis)

When anxiety, depression, or trauma sit alongside substance use, we treat both together, not separately.

Polysubstance Use

Many people use more than one substance. Our integrated approach treats the whole picture.

Three Levels of Care

PHP, IOP & Standard Outpatient

Most clients start in PHP or IOP based on their assessment, then step down as they stabilize. The same clinical team stays with you through every level.

PHP

Partial Hospitalization Program

The most intensive outpatient option. Full-day structure with the support of a higher level of care, while you return home each night. A common step down from detox.

Outpatient

Standard Outpatient Care

Weekly individual therapy and medication management. The right fit for maintenance or stepping down from IOP.

Frequently Asked Questions

What People Ask Before Starting IOP

What is an intensive outpatient program (IOP)?

IOP is structured addiction treatment you attend several times a week while living at home. You get group therapy, individual sessions, and clinical support, typically three days a week for about three hours, without staying overnight at a facility. It is a step up from weekly therapy and a step down from detox or PHP.

What's the difference between IOP and PHP?

PHP (partial hospitalization) is the more intensive option, usually five days a week, around six hours a day. It suits people who need a lot of structure but do not require overnight care, and it is a common step down from detox. IOP is lighter, around three days a week for three hours, and fits people who are stable enough to balance treatment with work or family. Your assessment determines which is right, and many people move from PHP to IOP to standard outpatient over time.

Do I need to complete detox first?

It depends on the substance and how your body responds. Some people come to IOP or PHP after completing medical detox; others start outpatient treatment directly. During your assessment, a clinician will determine whether detox is needed first and help coordinate it. You do not have to figure this out on your own before calling.

Can I keep working during treatment?

Yes, that is the point of outpatient care. IOP and standard outpatient are built around work, school, and family, and we offer evening tracks for exactly that reason. PHP is more time-intensive but still lets you return home each night. Many employers accommodate treatment under FMLA or similar policies, and we can help you understand what applies.

Will my insurance cover IOP or PHP?

Most major commercial plans cover outpatient substance use treatment, including IOP and PHP. We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Beacon, AllWays, Unicare, MVP, Priority Health, CDPHP, and other major carriers. We are unable to accept MassHealth, Medicare, or state-funded plans. Call or submit the form and we will verify your specific coverage and out-of-pocket cost, often within an hour.

Do you offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?

Yes. For opioid and alcohol use disorders, FDA-approved medication can be part of your plan, combined with therapy and any co-occurring mental health care. Our medical providers manage MAT as one piece of an integrated program, not a standalone prescription.

How quickly can I start?

For most people it is 24 to 48 hours between the first call and starting treatment. Same-day clinical assessments are routine when scheduled in advance. The exact timeline depends on insurance verification and assessment scheduling.
